Caren Van Houwelingen

Caren, also known as the Mystic Enquirer, is a practicing intuitive specialising in psychic mediumship, tarot, and animal communication. Through an awareness of energy and by working with the “clairs” — including clairvoyance, clairsentience, and claircognisance — she connects with Spirit and offers psychic and spiritual insights to seekers from all backgrounds and belief systems. Guided by her spirit guides, she shares the messages she receives with honesty, integrity, and a heart-centred approach.

Her interest in the unseen realms began at a very young age. What started as a fascination with the paranormal evolved into a dedicated exploration of metaphysics, mediumship, trance mediumship, cartomancy, energy management, pendulum work, and animal communication during her late twenties and early thirties. She has completed training in a variety of spiritual modalities through Metavarsity and the Cape Town- and UK-based School of Intuition and Healing, and has further developed her mediumship and trance mediumship abilities under the mentorship of teachers from the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. In 2024, she received official accreditation as a Spiritualist Medium from the International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine.

Caren’s spiritual interests extend to ufology, folklore, the occult and esoteric traditions, object psychometry, telepathy, remote viewing, and the exploration of supernatural phenomena. Beyond her spiritual work, she has a strong interest in world religions, psychology, music, art, fashion, and design.

She obtained a Master’s Degree in English Literature from Stellenbosch University in 2012 and also studied Comparative Literature at New York University. Her academic background has reinforced her belief in the power of narrative, symbolism, and creativity, particularly within the spiritual field. Alongside her intuitive practice, she works professionally as an editor within the book publishing industry.
