The story of Osiris
Who is Osiris?
Osiris, the god of the Underworld, first ruled Egypt for thousands of years, until he was killed by his brother, resurrected by his wife with just enough time to impregnate her. The story of Osiris contains many spiritual lessons, of which I explore a few here.
The warm egg yoke sun sits high in Kemet’s (the ‘Black Land’ as Egypt was formally known) brilliant blue sky. The mighty Nile river runs, a steady rhythm of trickling and bubbling, bursting from its banks is papyrus reeds that russle in the breeze and carry the scent of hibiscus flower. The story of Egypt and world began with the creator of the universe and the giver of life, the Egyptian sun god Ra who had a number of offspring. His great grandchildren from his grandchildren, Shu and Tefnut; are Osiris, Isis, Seth and Nephthys. Osiris takes Isis as his consort and Seth marries Nephthys.
Osiris is the ruler of Egypt, he is the son of Geb who is the earth god, and Nut, goddess of the sky. Osiris is a wise and loving leader, he and his wife Isis rule over a peaceful and abundant Egypt. He is not what one would imagine a mighty leader to be. He wasn’t a man sitting around making war plans or barking orders. He was a man who wanted to live a good life and brought a lightness to all those he encountered. He carried a sense of family and love to all the places he visited, Isis, the goddess of magick, was the same. She was a goddess of grace, beauty and love. Isis and Osiris were inseparable lovers and would share stolen glances with each-other and smile. They glowed in the company of one another and the people of the country admired them

How do you call your parts back? How do you build enough trust in your heart to fulfil your soul destiny, overcome your challenges, reach your potential and be in awe of your life? I have found in my own experience that gaining understanding of what brings you into balance, allows you to explore these questions authentically and with a heightened intuition. To truly trust yourself and your path, and then gain the courage to move into this direction, is a soul retrieval in my humble opinion.

How was Osiris killed?
Seth, Osiris’ brother is married to his sister Nephthys. Seth, the god of destruction, is overcome with jealousy towards Osiris after he catches Nephthys, Isis and Osiris in bed together (a good story is not without its scandal).
He conjures a plan to destroy Osiris at a party that he throws and many of the gods attend. Seth tricks Osiris into a coffin made of acacia wood, also known as the primordial and most coveted tree. He then cuts Osiris up into 14 pieces and distributes his pieces all over Egypt. Isis is distraught after discovering that her beloved has been murdered and sets out to retrieve his body parts. This story is imbued with wisdom and innuendo, I believe that this is symbolic of a soul retrieval and a type of initiation that we go through before a new path is revealed to us.
Why was Osiris cut into 14 pieces?
The number 14 in numerology stands for shocking deconstruction, so that in the rebuild or resurrection, there is the possibility of a new identity and expression. It is all about new beginnings, a pivotal moment in our lives when we feel cut into a many pieces and scattered. We go on a quest to summon these parts back, and resurrect with a different narrative and sometimes even identify. Isis, being the goddess of magick, together with Thoth and Nephthys resurrect Osiris giving him enough time to impregnate Isis with their son Horus, before he returns to the underworld. Osiris leaves the above world and takes permanent residence in the underworld as god of the Dead. One might say this is where Alchemy started. The god Osiris makes his way to another level of consciousness where is soul finds liberation.

On this scene representing Nut, water is here clearly represented. In the same scene below, water is not represented, but it is though suggested by the solar boats, the fisherman, the fishing net and the postures of Geb and Nut. Goddess of the sky Nut is clearly diving into the water. Geb is not represented because he is the water. Shu is also not represented because he is the sail of the boat.
The number 14 represents the energy of the Sun and Uranus. Uranus, like the sun has the energy of consciousness, but here it takes it a step further into individuation, individuality, objectivity, detachment, radical evolutionary processes, breaking norms and traditions for it is only in doing so can there be the real promise of something new on the path.
The continuing to do the same thing is akin to the sun, he shines, he shines and he shines and the outcomes become predictable after a while, but bring Uranus into the picture and you have shining with variation, experimentation, freshness and sometimes, with shock consequences.
Uranus is not one to be held down to abide to social convention so the idea of 14 (Sun Uranus) is the trying of something new (dying/aka shocking deconstruction/disembodiment) so that in the rebuild/resurrect.
There is possibility that a new structure, identity, expression and experience can be found after the retrieval of all your parts.
